Genuíno House
House built in 1958, it was the childhood and adolescence home of the Azorean navigator and Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique, Genuíno Madruga.
With two rounds of the world, he is the first Portuguese to sail the southernmost South American cape – the fearsome Cape Horn, becoming the 10th man to do so from East to West. It was in this house that he built his first boat at the age of 12. Come and experience the sea in its essence.
The house was fully restored in 2018, by the owner Genuino Madruga, maintaining its facade and original features and was opened to the public in July 2019. It intends to be an asset to the city of Horta and to the parish to which it belongs – Angústias, where one of the most beautiful bays in the World is located: the Bay of Porto Pim. .
The house is very well located in the heart of the Angustias parish, 200 metres from Porto Pim beach, 300 metres from Horta Marina (the 4th Marina in yacht movement in Europe) and 500 metres from downtown Horta.
